Gonzalo Pérez was born in 1958. He is a lawyer from Universidad de Medellin with a Specialization in Insurance Swiss Re - Zurich and CEO Management Program at Kellogg School of Management.

He was appointed in April 2020 as CEO President of Grupo de Inversiones Suramericana, where he has served since 1981. 

Previously, he served as President of Suramericana S.A., where he held different positions such as Vice President of Insurance and Capitalization, Vice President of Corporate Business, Manager of Corporate Business, and Manager of Human Resources.

He is currently a member of Board of Director of Bancolombia S.A. and Sura Foundation. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the subsidiaries of Suramericana (Seguros SURA) in Latin America.

He is not a PEP under Colombian regulation.

Bancolombia announced, on May 3rd 2024, that Dr. Gonzalo Alberto Pérez Rojas resigned from his position as a member of the Bank's Board of Directors as of May 1st of this year. The procedures for the withdrawal are taking place.
